What does TEREA Blue menthol taste like?

The current IQOS product text reads: "Mellow tobacco blend with deep menthol cooling enhanced by peppermint and creamy aroma notes." Other IQOS copy, including the flavor map on the same page, leaves out the creamy part. None of the IQOS descriptions we checked mention citrus, fruit, nuts or wood for Blue; its official vocabulary is deep or high cooling plus peppermint, with creamy aroma notes in some copy.

Our catalog notes for the TEREA Blue flavor are mellow tobacco, menthol and peppermint. In our catalog's reading that means cooling first, peppermint in the aroma and a soft tobacco base; palates differ.

How strong is TEREA Blue?

IQOS rates TEREA Blue 7 on its 1–10 flavor-intensity scale; IQOS says its ratings relate solely to the flavor profile. On the IQOS flavor map, 7 is the highest rating given to a menthol flavor; Green has 5 and Turquoise 4. The IQOS 5-point guide scores Blue 3 for intensity, 4 for body and 2 for aroma.

In our catalog TEREA Blue is Balanced, the second of four steps: a coarse house grouping, not a translation of the IQOS 7. None of the IQOS figures measures nicotine, and our steps are a taste grouping as well.

How cool is TEREA Blue?

Depth of cooling is the constant in IQOS copy for Blue. IQOS calls it "Cooling & Deep" and also "High cooling & Rich tobacco experience", and IQOS copy on the TEREA line ranks the menthol of Turquoise as delicate, Green as medium and Blue as the most intense of the three.

IQOS also publishes a 5-point cooling score, giving Blue 4 and Turquoise 2. On our own cooling scale Blue is Strong, level 3: a catalog grouping, not an IQOS figure.

TEREA Blue vs other menthol TEREA flavors

IQOS 1–10 figures come from IQOS product information and I/B/A (intensity, body, aroma) from the IQOS UK flavor guide; a dash means we found no number in those sources. Steps are our catalog grouping, not a conversion of the IQOS numbers.

Flavor	IQOS 1–10	IQOS I/B/A	Ours: strength / cooling
Blue (this page)	7	3 / 4 / 2	Balanced 2 / Strong 3
Turquoise	4	2 / 2 / 1	Mellow 1 / Light 1
Green	5	2 / 3 / 2	Mellow 1 / Medium 2
Kelly	—	—	Rich 3 / Strong 3
Tidal Pearl	—	—	Bold 4 / Medium 2

TEREA Turquoise vs Blue

Blue is the deeper and more intense of the pair on every IQOS rating we found: 7 of 10 against Turquoise's 4, and 3 / 4 / 2 against 2 / 2 / 1 in the IQOS flavor guide. IQOS labels Turquoise "Fresh & Zesty" with a crisp menthol, and Blue "Cooling & Deep". Our catalog rates Blue Strong for cooling and Turquoise Light, and puts Blue one strength step higher, Balanced against Mellow. For cooling, IQOS copy points the same way: it calls Blue's menthol the most intense and Turquoise's delicate, and scores cooling 4 against 2 on a 5-point scale. As a rule of thumb from our notes, Blue suits a peppermint-led, deeper menthol and Turquoise a lighter one with a zesty edge.

TEREA Green vs Blue

IQOS lists these two as its menthol TEREA pair and gives Blue more intensity and body than Green with a similar aroma: 7 against 5 on the 10-point scale, 3 / 4 / 2 against 2 / 3 / 2 on the 5-point one. Green's IQOS label is "Cooling & Balanced"; our notes give it spearmint where Blue has peppermint. Availability is shown on the Green page.

TEREA Blue vs Kelly

We found no IQOS intensity number for Kelly; IQOS copy on the TEREA line calls it intense menthol with lime notes. Our catalog gives both Strong cooling and rates Kelly a step higher for strength, Rich against Balanced. Kelly adds lime notes, while Blue stays with peppermint.

TEREA Blue and IQOS ILUMA devices

TEREA Blue works in every IQOS ILUMA and ILUMA i device, including the IQOS ILUMA i PRIME we sell. IQOS marks it as not compatible with earlier bladed IQOS devices.

Is TEREA Blue the same as HEETS Blue?

No. HEETS Blue fits only older bladed IQOS devices and TEREA Blue only IQOS ILUMA, and IQOS states that TEREA and HEETS are not the same. We found no IQOS page naming TEREA Blue as the official match for HEETS Blue. Still, IQOS describes HEETS Blue in the same words as the TEREA Blue entry on its flavor map, and tags both "Blue Selection". For anyone moving from blue HEETS to ILUMA, TEREA Blue is the closest-described flavor, though not a drop-in replacement. The HEETS to TEREA chart lines up every flavor.

How to use TEREA Blue

Insert a TEREA Blue stick into a charged ILUMA-family device, which heats it from the metal strip in its core; do not light it, and use each stick for one session. Do not pull a stick apart, as the metal part is sharp, and keep cartons away from children and pets.
