TEREA sticks in the USA

How to choose a TEREA flavor

Start with the family, then pick the strength. TEREA flavors fall into four groups: classic tobacco, aromatic tobacco, menthol, and capsule flavors that change taste when you click the capsule in the filter.

Classic tobacco

From lightest to fullest on the IQOS 10-point intensity scale: TEREA Silver (4), TEREA Yellow (5), TEREA Amber (6), TEREA Teak and TEREA Sienna (7), TEREA Bronze (8) and TEREA Russet (9). Silver is toasted with light spicy herbs, Amber nutty and roasted, Teak nutty and creamy, Sienna woody with a light tea note, Russet malty and full-bodied.

Menthol

TEREA Turquoise is the lighter menthol, crisp and zesty at 4 of 10. TEREA Blue is the deep one, peppermint-led at 7 of 10, and IQOS rates its cooling 4 of 5 against Turquoise's 2. TEREA Purple Wave pairs crisp menthol with dark forest berries, without a capsule.

Capsule flavors

The Pearl flavors hold a capsule: the stick starts as tobacco, and a click adds cooling, usually with fruit. TEREA Oasis Pearl moves from creamy, nutty tobacco to passion fruit and menthol; TEREA Sun Pearl from spicy herbs to watermelon and menthol; TEREA Twilight Pearl from malty tobacco to forest berries.

Strongest and lightest TEREA

• Strongest: TEREA Russet, 9 on the IQOS intensity scale, the top of the range IQOS uses for TEREA.
• Lightest: TEREA Silver among tobacco flavors and TEREA Turquoise among menthols, both 4.
• In between: Yellow 5, Amber 6, Teak and Sienna 7, Bronze 8, Blue 7.

IQOS says its intensity ratings describe the flavor profile only. They are a taste chart, not a nicotine chart. Our own strength steps in the table above (Mellow, Balanced, Rich, Bold) are a separate house grouping.

Which device do TEREA sticks work with?

Only IQOS ILUMA. TEREA are SMARTCORE STICKS: a thin metal element sealed in each stick is warmed by the device's induction heater, so the tobacco heats from within and nothing is lit. Every current model takes them, including ILUMA i PRIME, ILUMA i and ILUMA i ONE, compared side by side on our IQOS ILUMA page. IQOS warns against using TEREA in older IQOS devices, which they can damage.

TEREA vs HEETS

HEETS are the earlier IQOS sticks, built for blade-heated devices; TEREA are built for ILUMA, and neither fits the other's device. For a few flavors IQOS names a match: TEREA Silver, Amber and Sienna each carry a "Matches HEETS" line. For the rest, some names overlap, but IQOS names no official pair. Our HEETS to TEREA chart covers nine HEETS flavors.
