TEREA Menthol Flavors and Pearl Capsules Compared

The menthol TEREA flavors without a capsule in our range are Turquoise, Green, Blue, Purple Wave, Ruby Wave, Summer Wave, Zing Wave, Kelly, Willow and Laguna Swift. The capsule, or Pearl, flavors such as Oasis Pearl and Sun Pearl add menthol and fruit when you click the capsule in the filter. By IQOS ratings, TEREA Blue is the deepest menthol on this page and TEREA Turquoise the lightest of Blue, Green and Turquoise. Below, both groups compared side by side.

Which TEREA is menthol?

TEREA menthol comes in two forms:

• Menthol sticks carry their cooling from the first puff. Some pair it with plain tobacco, others with citrus, berries or fruit.
• Capsule (Pearl) sticks start as tobacco. A click on the capsule in the filter adds cooling, with fruit in most Pearls; for most of them IQOS names menthol on the click.

Every flavor below is also on our TEREA flavors page, which lists the whole range with strength and cooling.

Menthol TEREA flavors compared

IQOS rates some flavors on a 10-point intensity scale and says the ratings describe flavor only. A dash means IQOS publishes no 10-point figure; rows marked "Our notes" use our catalog wording.

TEREA Turquoise	4 of 10	IQOS: lightly toasted tobacco, crisp menthol, zesty notes
TEREA Green	5 of 10	IQOS label "Cooling & Balanced"; our notes: spearmint
TEREA Purple Wave	5 of 10	IQOS: crisp menthol with dark forest fruit
TEREA Blue	7 of 10	IQOS: mellow tobacco, deep menthol, peppermint

TEREA Summer Wave	–	Our notes: menthol, ripe fruit, floral notes
TEREA Willow	–	Our notes: menthol, citrus, spicy herbs
TEREA Laguna Swift	–	Our notes: menthol with tropical notes

IQOS also sells Purple Wave under the name TEREA Mauve, with the same description.

TEREA Blue vs Turquoise: which has more menthol?

TEREA Blue. IQOS rates Blue 7 of 10 for intensity, the top figure for a menthol flavor on its flavor map, and labels it "Cooling & Deep". Turquoise gets 4 of 10 and the label "Fresh & Zesty". IQOS also scores cooling on a 5-point scale: 4 for Blue, 2 for Turquoise. In short, Blue is the deep, peppermint-led menthol, and Turquoise the lighter one with a zesty edge. Green sits between them at 5 of 10.

Is there a mint TEREA?

Mint shows up in three places. IQOS describes TEREA Blue with peppermint aroma notes; our catalog notes give TEREA Green spearmint; and in TEREA Tidal Pearl, by our notes, the capsule adds mint. If "mint" to you means cooling without fruit, look at Blue, Green and Turquoise, which pair menthol with tobacco rather than berries or fruit.

What are the TEREA Wave flavors?

The Wave flavors on this page pair menthol with fruit or citrus and have no capsule: Purple Wave with dark forest fruit, Ruby Wave with red berries and a floral undertone, Summer Wave with ripe fruit and floral notes, and Zing Wave with citrus and spicy herbs.

How do TEREA Pearl capsule flavors work?

A Pearl stick holds a capsule in its filter. The stick starts as tobacco; click the capsule in the filter, and cooling comes in, with fruit in most Pearls and mint in Tidal Pearl. IQOS ties the cooling and the fruit to the click and does not describe cooling before it, so a Pearl gives you two stages in one stick. IQOS publishes no 10-point intensity figures for Pearl flavors.
